This hourly position supports the continuous improvement and growth of Lexington Manufacturing by supporting our Quality Management System (QMS).

Who You’ll Be Working For:

You will report directly to the Technical Product Development Manager and will work directly with Quality, Engineering and production staff that is committed to maintaining our high level of performance.

Position Description:

Within a team-based environment, supports the continuous improvement and growth of the organization by supporting our quality management system.

  • Assure safety of yourself and those around you. Report any safety concern to the nearest supervisor or manager.
  • Perform visual and dimensional checks and review accompanying paper work to assure incoming materials meet specifications.
  • Perform physical and mechanical properties testing on incoming materials using universal test machines, ovens, scales, various fixtures and assorted gauges.
  • Assist in R&D material testing as required.
  • Perform in-process inspections and audits on materials and assemblies in production as required.
  • Periodically audit in-process inspection logs. Assist in resolution of in-process quality problems.
  • Communicate quality expectations to production personnel. Assist in training production personnel in quality control functions as needed.
  • Reports to Technical Manager all inspection activities, problems and other challenges in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up to date and complete records either paper and/or electronically:
    1. Incoming material and vendor history
    2. WDMA and ANSI specifications & ASTM Standards
    3. Outside or contracted testing
    4. Audits
  • Monitor test equipment and procedures to ensure proper set-up and calibration.
  • Maintain equipment calibration by performing or contracting out calibration activities.
  • Responsible for brief weekly quality report.
  • Participate in material review board (MRB) activities; ensure proper completion of discrepant material reports and tags. Control and ensure proper disposition of discrepant material.
  • Assist in development of written procedures (SOP’s or JI’s) as requested.
  • Assist in written response to customer and/or supplier quality corrective action requests.
  • Auditing control plans and processes at vendor facility as required.
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement both internally and with our vendors.
  • Participate in all Lean Manufacturing opportunities as requested. Support material group in supplier evaluation and development as requested.
  • Keep abreast of changes in quality measurement and management techniques that could improve the company’s operations.
  • Attend and contribute to, all required meetings. Know, understand, enforce and follow all pertinent company rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties not specifically stated herein, but which may be assigned by the Technical Manager and are properly and logically inherent to this position


(Minimum requirements of education & experience, knowledge, special skills, abilities, attributes, credentials, ability to endure conditions of work environment, etc. required to perform the job.)

  • Preferred Experience: Associates of Applied Science or Certificate in Quality Control Technology are preferred, or an equivalent combination of a High School degree or 2-3 years’ experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to communicate effectively to gather information from a diverse group and assemble reasonable solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required with the ability to communicate across various levels of the organization and customers.
  • Able to use computer systems software including access, excel, power point, adobe editor, Microsoft word.
  • Able to use complex inspection tools
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, instructions, training, and procedures.
  • Able to stay well organized and work under pressure.
