Primary Location: Based in Coon Rapids or Brainerd Location
Travel: 20% travel between manufacturing Coon Rapids and Brainerd plant locations
Purpose and Scope:
The Black Belt professional serves as the subject matter expert in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies who with minimal oversight, is a positive contributor in meeting Lexington Manufacturing’s Strategic Objectives. They uphold and honor our Core Values by setting an example in their work and ethics at the highest standard for safety, quality and productivity. They are enthusiastic change agents, leading team members across all functional areas and at all levels of the organization through improvement activities with a steady hand. They provide support through mentoring, training and guidance as needed, across functional lines, as they contribute to bottom line growth through good stewardship of company resources and creatively solving and preventing problems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
High-Level Accountabilities
- Responsible for achieving strategic non-capital improvement goals as well as other strategic objectives as defined and assigned by
- Serves as a key leader to drive continuous improvement activities
- Communicates effectively and regularly to promote clear direction, good communication, teamwork, and people
- Uses team-based problem solving techniques to identify root causes and implement permanent
- Creative ly addresses constraints and challenges to ensure timely execution of
- An effective steward of resources in the execution of responsibilities to maximize organizational financial

- Shares knowledge and supports training opportunities to build a team
- Demonstrate flexibility to provide support activities within the Operational Excellence organization that are required to meet the needs of our internal and external customers
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides direct process improvement support across Lexington Manufacturing organization by serving our multi-site and multi-shift organization in Coon Rapids, MN and Brainerd, MN
- Supports Lexington Way training implementation training program ( Champion, Black Belt, Green Belt and Yellow Belt training)
- Leads effort across functional areas to identify improvement
- Review, evaluate and prioritize process improvement opportunities and present to leadership to gain
- Provide management oversight of the strategically aligned project portfolio
- Coach Green Belts to drive or directly lead, Lean or Six Sigma projects to successful completion
- Share professional guidance on an ongoing basis to mentor Green Belt team members
- Maintain detailed records of all Lean and Six Sigma projects to manage completed portfolio of work and to leverage as required for future opportunities
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements of education and experience, knowledge, special skills, abilities, attributes, credentials, ability to endure conditions of work environment to perform the job.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with confidence with all levels of the organization
- Must have strong time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have direct experience in leading 10 or more successful DMAIC, DMADV, and Lean Projects
- Must have 3 to 5 years working in a manufacturing environment
- Black Belt trained and certified by a credible business or association with the highest quality training standards.
- Significant knowledge and experience with quality concepts and tools such as value stream mapping, SIPOC, Voice of Customer, systems thinking, business process redesign, kaizen, lean principles, time and motion studies, regression, correlation, cause and effect, FMEA and process mapping
- Demonstrated success in the application of process improvement projects in a manufacturing environment through realization of soft and hard savings benefits
- Project management
- Temperament to take on difficult, complex and involved work in a professional
- Initiative, determination and persistence to see a task through to
- Comprehensive understanding of world class manufacturing principles
Education, Experience, Certifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field required
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success as certified Six Sigma Black Belt required
- Black Belt certification required
- Project Management training preferred
- Smartsheet experience preferred (Microsoft Sharepoint comparable software)
- Minitab statistical software experience preferred
